Loan

IQ energy program is a program that supports improvements in the field of energy efficiency in the residential sector of Ukraine in accordance with European energy efficiency standards. The program was developed by the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD). Today, energy efficiency is not only a modern and trendy concept, but above all:
  • a smart investment in the future
  • savings on utility bills
If you decide to make your home energy efficient, take advantage of the IQ energy program for financing energy efficiency projects from OTP Bank and the EBRD*, which includes:
  • favorable loan conditions from OTP Bank
  • reimbursement of up to 20% of the cost of equipment/materials and their installation thanks to the IQ energy program grant

5 steps to receive a grant (cost compensation) under the IQ energy program:

Step 1: choose the necessary equipment and materials, generate and print the “certificate of conformity”. To make it easier to find energy-efficient equipment and materials that meet the financing criteria of the IQ energy program, the EBRD has created a database “List of Eligible Materials and Equipment” (Technology Catalogue) and “List of Eligible Suppliers and Installation Companies” (Suppliers Catalogue). This information can be found on the dedicated website. Step 2: apply for a cash loan at OTP Bank in the amount of up to UAH 300,000** without collateral and purchase the selected equipment/materials to implement energy efficiency solutions for your home. Choose the most convenient way to receive the money:
  • cash at a bank branch – up to UAH 300,000;
  • a point-of-sale loan directly at the partner stores of the Bank: Epicentr K and Vena – up to UAH 50,000;
  • a loan secured by a deposit – up to EUR 15,000 in UAH equivalent;
  • OTP Bank credit card.
To obtain a loan, you only need to have the following documents:
  • passport;
  • certificate of taxpayer identification number;
  • employment certificate for the last 12 months (for loans over UAH 50,000).
Step 3: register to receive a grant on the IQ energy program website. Remember, if you wish to receive a grant under IQ energy, you must register on the website within four months after receiving the loan. Step 4: fill in the grant application form. Detailed instructions will be sent to you by email to the address you specified when registering your grant application. At this stage you will need to complete the online application form and upload supporting files, such as scanned copies of the invoice and photos of the project. Important! At the time of submitting the application, the loan must still be active. Step 5: after the grant is approved in the system, you will receive the payment through the OTP Bank branch that issued your loan under the IQ energy program. Grants are paid monthly. The grant payment currency is euro at the official NBU exchange rate on the date the loan is disbursed. The maximum grant amount is EUR 3,000. The grant is paid to the client’s current account opened with OTP Bank. Within the IQ energy program you can also order an energy audit of your house or apartment. Take advantage of this great opportunity and save both heat and money for your family with a loan from OTP Bank! * Only loans received after 7 April 2016 are eligible to participate in the IQ energy program.
** The loan amount within the limit of up to UAH 300,000 depends on the parameters of the selected loan product.

How to apply for grants under the IQ energy program

The process of submitting applications for grants under the IQ energy program for completed energy-efficient projects is quite simple and does not require too much time or effort — everything is done online, and only three steps are required.

Before You Start

You select the required equipment and materials using the “Technology Catalogue” available on the IQ energy program website at: http://www.iqenergy.org.ua/technologies, and download/print the “Certificate of Conformity”. This certificate has a unique serial number that you will need later. You may download/print the certificate even after the purchase, since all eligible equipment/materials can be found in the Technology Catalogue.

You must purchase the equipment/materials using a retail loan from one of the banks participating in the IQ energy program. The list of participating banks can be found on the website. Once you have received the loan from the bank and purchased the high-efficiency equipment/materials, you are ready for Step 1 — registration for obtaining grants. (Installation does not need to be completed before registration.)

Step 1. Registration for Grant Eligibility

Before registering, make sure you have:

  • your individual taxpayer identification number;
  • your loan agreement;

You need to register your application online in our grant application system at www.iqenergy.org.ua. You will be asked to provide personal information (name, surname, date of birth, taxpayer identification number), contact details (email and phone number), and information about your IQ energy loan (bank name, loan agreement date, loan amount, and agreement number).

Please make sure you carefully read our “Terms and Conditions” before submitting your registration, as you will be asked to confirm them. We also recommend checking the “Frequently Asked Questions” section for additional guidance.

Please provide your real data, since it will be verified with partner banks to confirm your loan within the IQ energy program. This may take several days. We will notify you by email whether your registration was successful.

Remember: if you want to receive a grant, you must register within four months from the date of signing the loan agreement. Do not delay registration — you will not be able to submit a grant application without completing registration first. At this stage, you do not need to upload project information — only your personal and loan details. You may register even if your project is still in progress.

Step 2. Submitting the Grant Application Form

After successful registration, we will send you an email with detailed instructions on how to provide information about your energy-efficient project. Generally, you will need to fill out the online application form and upload supporting files, such as scanned invoices and project photos.

This email will be sent to the address provided during Step 1 registration. Please do not forward it to anyone else — only you will have access to the online grant application form for security reasons.

Our online system is designed to validate the information you provide. Do not worry about making a mistake — the system will guide you throughout the process. You do not need to calculate the grant amount — the system will do it automatically. Your task is to provide complete and accurate information about your property and project.

Please review our “Project Documentation Guidelines” to understand what data will be required for each type of project. For some equipment categories, you will need to provide “before project” photos, so make sure you take and save these before starting any reconstruction.

Once you submit all documents, our experts will review them (either remotely or onsite) and calculate the grant amount you are eligible for. If your project is selected for onsite verification, we will contact you by email and phone to arrange a visit.

We will inform you by email about the decision regarding your grant. If approved, you will be able to receive your grant at the bank where you took your IQ energy loan.

Step 3. Receiving the Grant

After approval, the grant will be paid through the commercial bank that issued your loan under the IQ energy program.

Grants are paid only once per month. Even if your application is approved, you may need to wait for the next payout cycle. Different banks may use different grant payout procedures — please contact your bank to learn when and how you will receive your funds.
